About Made By Mary

My name is Mary Lewis and I am a lifelong artist living on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. We are surrounded by beautiful landscapes such as forests full of evergreens and the Olympic Mountains. We have some amazing wildlife such as roosevelt elk and bald eagles. The majority of my art pieces are inspired from my surroundings and growing up in nature.

Made By Mary is a creative endeavor that beautifully merges the world of arts and sustainability through Magazine Mosaics. These mosaics are a testament to the potential upcycling has through artistry, hidden within everyday materials. Each piece is meticulously crafted of carefully selected vibrant magazine pieces. This method breathes new life into forgotten publications that were otherwise going to be discarded and encourages a dialogue about waste, creativity and the endless opportunities for innovation in the arts.

Although I have dabbled in many types of art throughout my life, creating mosaic style artwork using upcycled magazines is my favorite. What started as a family craft project making greeting cards, turned into an art that I haven't stopped creating since. That was in 2020.
